No Sex or Politics
Downing Centre Law Courts Sydney
2004

Dingoes, 2004

Nine polyurethane dingoes are imprisoned outside the Downing Street Law Courts, Sydney.
The foundation for the work Dingoes is buried within the exhibitions title, No Sex or Politics. The parameters that the artist was given to work within consider the ostensible neutrality of the site - an impartial reception area and meeting place at the main entrance of the Sydney Law Courts.
Dingoes attempted to engage its audience on institutionalised notions of native and nationhood – is the dingo native to Australia, or is native simply a term to describe all that was here before English law arrived?
