Foreign Territory – ‘Twenty-two Demons’
Gallery 132 Rozelle Sydney
1998
Twenty two American football helmets are cast in wax. Each helmet is wrapped with wire of varying quality for the purpose of hanging. Six lengths of wire rope are suspended close towards the ceiling and like the marked lines of the playing field they run parallel to each other, stretching the length of the gallery.
The monumental nature of Helmet Heads is no longer present. Twenty Two Demons is twenty two American football helmets cast in wax. Two differing facial grids denote two evenly numbered teams. They have been flung, placed and left out of the main thoroughfare in the recesses of the gallery.
